“Soooo, when’s the big day?
For many brides and grooms to be, that age old query will be asked of them - and answered by them - pretty much up until the day they wed. And, while it may get exasperating and even repetitive, experts say it’s a natural first question for others to ask due to the fact that many of life’s major events fall into anticipated timelines.

Ironically, what’s also predictable is how the newly engaged respond. We’re thinking June. Which begs the question, how did June become the most popular wedding month anyway? Is it because of its moderate temperatures, or abundance of colorful flowers? If history tells us anything, it’s that pragmatism and worship played major roles, starting with the Romans.
When in Rome…
Because Rome’s goddess of marriage was Juno, many Romans chose to honor her by having their wedding in June. It was also believed that newlyweds would be showered in good wishes and good luck from the gods if they married in that month; which is why it was considered to be a favorable one. Historically, harvesting and cleanliness also facilitated the June wedding precedence.
For many couples, a June wedding meant that a potential summer pregnancy would only put a wife in her first trimester, leaving her physically able to assist with the manual labor of cropping and farming. It also meant that after a spring birth, a recovered bride in good health would be able to contribute to the next year’s harvest as well.
Cleanliness is Next to Godliness…
Reportedly, another reason why June is the most popular month to get married in is because once upon a time, humans did not bathe regularly. In fact, bathing was considered a non-necessity and was often reserved to a once-a-year event. Naturally, when the weather warmed up by June, the clothes came off and the baths were filled. Precisely the reason why so many couples tied the knot soon after, as they were cleaner for the religious rite of marriage, and they were at their most presentable for their spouse.
